I have 1959 630 row crop, and I'm looking to buy the manuals for it. I'd like to get a service manual, an operators manual, and a parts manual, but the listing are confusing. Can anyone tell me what I need and where the best place is to get them at. Also, do you need the separate powr-trol and power steering manuals, or are they only for major rebuilds of these components. (which they may need) Thanks in advance for any help you can lend.

The I-T manual is an independent technical manual that covers the in depth parts of service but assumes you are already a mechanic. Good information tho. It's best to have both the factory and the I-T to cover all the bases. Most farm supply stores like Orchelin have them. I have many manuals from farm sales but my John Deere dealer has been able to get every piece of info I've needed so far. I just brought home a 630 LP last weekend so I am quite interested in how this comes out!

Hey BB, who's on the other end of the phone number?

Deere supposedly did not make a 630 service manual. The one I had to order is SM2008 which is for the 60 series. This manual has the removal and installation only on the Powr-trol. I don't see anything in it on the power steering unit. The IT book may be better than this one.

That's what I suspected. I have the 60 series manual, but it still leaves some of the 630 details out. Not having much experience with rebuilding a tractor makes me a little leary about winging it. I may try to get the operators manual, maybe it will fill in the gaps.

BTW - What is the IT manual? (inspection and teardown?)
Thanks for the help.

I have the Operators manual(not for sale), so if you need any info from it I can get it for you.
