There are a few parts such as the carb. and etc that I want to leave with a clear coated metal finish. What would be good to use on this? Polyurathane? If the brass parts are coated in this will it keep them from turning? Thanks

Don the way I do my axles and belt pulley's,I go done to parts store and get me a can of spray Lacquer and coat them. Now this keeps them from rusting and they look nice, unless you are looking for a deep finish that they put on these clocks that you hang on the wall,I think that is some sort of clear epoxy. Gman

Try asking at the site below, there are many expert painters there.

Thanks Cliff! I'll do some reading over there before I paint.

Any time spent at that site is time well spent if you are going to do any painting. I have also bought a paint gun and a Hobbyair supplied air system from it and got an exellent deal and service.

Don, I usually use Dupont Centari Emron. It is a 2 part that is tough as nails won't turn yellow like some urethanes & doesn't chip easily. The down side is it's cost & it would kill the Devil if a fresh air breathing system isn't used & the gun MUST be cleaned as soon as done or it will never work again. Ask your local paint store what they recommend for a more reasonable substitute.

Clooney, Thanks for the info. I don't have a moon suit to wear while spraying that stuff and no more than I have to do I would like something a little "handier". I'll ask the local "experts" as you suggested.
