Is there a good way to remove the fuel tank on a 620 John Deere? I removed all the bolts on the outside that I can see, but still no go. Do I have to unbolt anything under the tank? I can really see what the bolts under there attach to. I'm still waiting on my I&T shop manual to get here, but I don't know if it will help much. Doesn't look like it's a very think book. Thanks a lot. Andrew R.

Andrew,

Yes the choke rod has to come out first.

Unscrew the pull knob at the dash panel, unhook from carburator choke arm and pull out forward toward the front of the tractor. Be carefull not to bent its shape as that can make it a bear to thread back through on re-assembly.

Un-hook the wiring harness at the generator and rear of dash panel.

There is a one bolt through a strap on top of the govenor housing that must be removed plus all the side bolts. The muffler is a piece of cake on the 620 to remove.

From there you should be ready for removal.

Good luck, enjoy your 620 as I do mine and have a great Thanksgiving.

Dick

Andrew, on mine I totally removed the hood from the tractor first (with tank still inside it) and then turned it upside down and removed the tank out of the hood. It had front and back strap mounts if I recall, and there was a steel top tank vent line that hung it up until I removed it. Is that the type info you are looking for???

Yes, that's what I wanted. Do i have to remove the choke lever somehow? It looks like it sticks through there. Are there any wires that need to be removed inside? DOn't want to rip anything off with I pull it off. Thanks, Andrew R.
