if your wanting to be a competitive puller what you need to do is get a high voltage coil new plugs plug wires..... i would look to see if i could find a cheap powerblock for it. if not put a shade bigger carb on it. bore it out i have seen guys do this at pulls they drill and tap a hole in the block for another sparkplug and run the wire down the frame....any unsuspecting person would never know it. they have a diffrent sound though but give you more hp. just thought i would try and help!!!! if you need anything else just email i got some more tips for ya if ya need em

If you are burning gas, there's nothing wrong with putting gas pistons and a gas manifold on your G as I did on mine. Do the head and overhaul the governor. I had Albert install a dry air filter - it looks just the same on the outside as it did before - but adds a few horspower and does a better job of filtering air. I also put 15.5 x 38 tires on 14" rims. It runs better than a bone stock G (with tractor gas pistons and manifold) and no stock G will touch it pulling.

G's are great, nothing sounds nicer than an old well tuned G on a load. But if you bore & stroke to the max, add after-market rods & pistons, change carb & air cleaner, you will ruin the tractor as an antique & a collectors' item. When you're done pulling, it will be worthless, not even a good "parts" tractor. And you will encounter some serious break-downs - broken axles, bent shafts, broken castings - all expensive & embarrassing at a Pull. Better to tune it well, keep everything stock, & have the prettiest G at the ANTIQUE Pulls. You'll win your share, a stock G pulls with the best of them. And it's so over-engineered that you'll never hurt it. Have fun, we all admire a stock G!

The sky's the limit when it comes to fixing up a G for pulling. If it was mine and I wanted to work with it also I would give everything a good cleaning and tune up. I would then enter pulls just for fun with no real expectations of winning much. If you didn't want to work with it and you had a bunch of cash then you could build a pretty mean machine but personally I would go the mild route...Fireman

You can do one or the other, but you can't do both. If you think anything of your Grandpa's tractor at all, leave it alone, and go find some other tractor to ruin by using it for tractor pulling!!
