Hi folks,

I am replacing the rock shaft housing on my '41 A and wondered if anyone had any helpful hints to make it go smoothly. I planned on pasting the gasket on the tractor with some gasket dope and having the PowerTrol off. I am going to use a block and tackle to hoist it up to the tractor and position it. Am I on the right track?

Thanks, Jon

I engage the PTO shifter before before I try to slide 'em on otherwise I do it just like the other post says. Engaging the PTO shifter keeps the front of the shaft from rotating as I turn the rear PTO shaft to align the splines in the coupler.

Jon I haven't changed a rockshaft housing on an A, but I changed a few on "G"'s. At the top there are two nut's I loosen the nut s then take all the bolts out then let the hosing slide back on the two studs that you removed the nuts from,I have put in longer studs for aligning up the pto shaft when I go back . Other than that sounds like you are on top of it. Good luck Gman
