What all is involved in the switch? Will engines beside the 4010 diesel work?

Maybe cheaper & easier to sell the 4010 gas to a collector & purchase a diesel. If the tractor is used only a few hundred hours a year & in good repair the extra cost of gasoline is minor in the grand scheme of things. All the little fiddling & tinkering of parts eats more time & money than expected.

Don, it is not too hard of a job to do the switch. Besides the engine you will want to get the air cleaner (due to the fact that they are larger on a diesel) and the connecting air pipes to the intake manifold. Also, you will need the throttle linkage under the dash because the linkage goes out the left side on a gas and the right side on the diesel. After you get the engine installed it would be a good time to convert the diesel system to 12 volt, too. If you take your time you won't know but what the tractor came with a diesel engine. A 4010 or 4020 engine will be the easiest and best fit, but other later engines will fit in with a little more work. If you have any questions feel free to let me know. Hope this helps. Mike

Yep, the 6466A! And when he gets done, after a few years his tractor will command the same kind of high resale value, not to mention repair record, as the 5020 tractors which got 6v71 Detroit engines. Yes, those converted 5020s sure are bringing "top" dollar.
LOL

Sell the 4010 gas (3613 row crop built) to a collector and buy a 4020D. It will be cheaper and work better.
