I have a 40T that I am currently restoring. Serial #40 61727, Engine #68384. The tag is in excellent shape with original, unmolested fasteners. Why is there no T stamped after the 40. I have inspected it with a magnifing glass to see if it were just a light strike but there is nothing there. Any ideas? Thanks Al

When the Model 40's first came out, the tricycle version was simply the "Model 40", while the Standard became the "Model 40S" and the Crawler became the "Model 40C". Of course, four other versions followed, the 40U (Utility), 40W (Two-Row Utility), 40H (Hi-crop) and 40V (Special).

The tricycle versions have generally become known as the "40T" just to differentiate it from the other versions. But originally, this version was THE Model 40.
