I had some guy drop in recently looking for some JD parts,he claimed "Green" was the only color to have!If Green is so good...Why haven't i been able to sell this 54' JD 40U,3pth,pto,runs and goes, does not smoke or burn any oil that i can see.I have even dropped the price low enough i though to attract someone with a twinkle in there eye for a restoration project.I wanted to sell this running tractor whole for the $1700....I guess i will need to face the facts and eventually put this green machine into parts with the aid of the cutting torch.

Believe me, Jon, I wish I knew why it's not selling. This is the same price I paid for mine three years ago, knowing it had broken teeth in the trans and smoking like crazy, and I was still glad to get it for that price.

If I was in a position to buy another and was headed to New England for any reason, I'd grab this quick. A ride-and-drive 40 around the northern Detroit Metro area would bring $2800-$3000 real quick.

I sought of hesitate about breaking it down into parts,i just need a little incentive from someone to start, would like to sell a major piece for i take any quick action.I guess there no better way to move this John Deere tractor to get my money out of it, but to "bone it out"pick off the good saleable parts and toss the rest of the carcass in the hopper.
