The steering in my 1010 went out. I found out that the two pieces that engage the worm gear on the steering wheel shaft were worn down to nothing. It appears that these two pieces can be replaced by drilling out and installing new ones.
Does anyone know where to get some new ones or where I can get a good used shaft. The PN on the shaft is TLA124979. Any help is appreciated.

Allen, I did a search for tractor salvage yards last year and found a steering shaft for an old International for a friend. We contacted one and it worked out fine. We got a good used shaft at a fair price. Give it a try. Good Luck, Mark R.

Thanks for your help. I ended up making the "dogs" that engage the worm gear. I just turned a 7/16 bolt with the worm gear profile, knocked out the old ones and installed the new ones. Worked great! I can now actually steer the beast without using the brakes. A dried out gearbox didn't help either so a little gearbox oil worked wonders. If any body needs further details of how to make the "dogs" just email me.
