I just bought a 1948 B that had been sitting for a long time. The tractor has brand new tires and I noticed some minor dry rot cracks starting to form. Is there something I can do to repair this and prevent it from spreading? Thanks in advance.

I have used plain old brake fluid on the rubber. Try one spot and use it sparingly as it will remove paint.

My brother-in-law just introduced me to a product by Turtle Wax that does a great job in disguising the cracks but I don't know the long term effect. Miller Tire, Link has a tire paint but again I don't know if it will prolong life. Long term exposure to sun will cause tires to age, if you can't keep them out of the sun at least cover them up.

I also use a product from Turtle Wax called Formula 2001. You can get a wax for sheet metal and a spray protectant for tires and vinyl. It works excellent. Doesn't leave an oily residue on tires to attract dust. Lasts a long time. Have used on show tractor tires for 3 or 4 years and DOES protect tires! Really pleased with the results on older, harder tires. It seems to soften them.
