being that you guys seem to thing that I should use a 4020 gas for a puller, I was wondering if I could use my 3020 gas. It's a 72 model(mint condition), I don't want to ruin it. I have fluid in the 16.9-34 tires, but would replace them with a set of 18.4-34's from a set band buals off my 4020 (the bands pop off). What weight class should I be looking at. Any problems or suggestions would be helpful? Thanks.

Just slip a six cylinder 4020 engine in there & get a good body shop to stretch the hood. If done clean enough nobody would likely notice.

I would guess you'd end up in something around 7,000 pound class depending on what classes are available in your area, and if you choose to make any efforts to lighten the 3020. Personally I wouldn't spend much time on it. Any 730 or 720 gasser that is running good will outpull a 3020, and will give your 4020 a run for its money on anyday you pull on a sticky track. I hope it works out for you. you'll probobly have to run it in low gear maybe 2nd since your using 34" tires, but I wouldn't try overriding the gov, or anything like that on a late model. 3020's are great farm tractors, being one of my favorite models, but I just dont think they make good pullers. best of luck, Greg H.
