I am looking for information (i.e. model no., mfg. date, etc.) regarding an old John Deere plow I have. It is a single bottom plow with a coulter. I assume it horse drawn because it has a seat. It has 3 steel wheels; the 2 front ones are adjustable via levers extending back to the seat.
On the shank the number 272 is stamped.

My John Deere Sulky plow has a wooden oak beam, and a steel mow board, and two wooden handles and a small cast wheel in the front. How old is this and what is it worth?

Air, What you called a shank is usually referred to as a beam, the beam #272 was used on the New Deere Sulky plow built from 1930-1940. It was built earlier than '30 but didn't use the 272 beam until then. And yes, it is a horse drawn plow. Hope this is useful info to you. Bob

I have been seaching for information on an old horse drawn John Deere plow I found in the grove that has the words JOHN DEERE 268 on the beam. It is a single bottom with a small rear wheel. The furrow wheel is smaller than the land wheel. It is only missing the seat. The levers and the wheels work. I think it would plow dirt. Would anyone know how old this plow is and what it would appraise at?

Thanks for the information. I don't know much about the plow, but this will help.
