Problem: mow for three hours, runs fine, charges about 2-3 amps. Shut down for night, everything normal. Go to start next day and crank, no fire. Check fuse and it's blown. Replace fuse everything is fine again, What is happening when this tractor is off that blows a fuse? Why does'nt it blow when I replace it or when tractor is running (intermittent short)? Current windings in voltage reg holding in when tractor shut off? Any help appreciated.

alcgar, you have a strange one there. I don't think it is the cut-out in the voltage regulator as that is in the battery circuit & the fuse you are blowing is in the "L" (load) circuit from the regulator to the ignition S/W. My guess would be you have a short in either the ignition S/W or a short in one of the light circuits, or rear flood light , or even the rear auxiliary plug. Try disconnecting all the lights from the back of the ignition S/W & see if the fuse quits blowing, if so you have a shorted light or light wire, if no better disconnect the rear auxiliary light socket wire from the BAT terminal on the ignition S/W, if still blowing fuses disconnect both the "Bat" wire & "ignition" wire from back of ign S/W & either jump together to run tractor or install a toggle S/W to control & see if it quits blowing fuses, if it quits you have a bad ign S/W, if it still blows fuses you have a short in the wire from the ign S/W to the coil or a bad coil.
