If I put the new metal oil seal/dust shield and a new bronze bushing in, will that take the slack out and stop the oil leak that gets into the inner clutch facing? Is John Deere the place to buy these parts?

pjr1957, it might, but I doubt it. Those 520&530s only use a replacable outer race & roller bearing for the outer clutch pulley bearing, the inner race is actually the crankshaft & is prone to wearing. Most of the 520 & 530s I have seen have quite a bit of loosness between the pulley & crank. A new tight bushing will help for a while but will soon become loose again if there is loosness in the outer bearing to crank. If the trans oil is of the thin variety or over filled or the drain back hole is plugged nothing will completly stop the oil from getting in the clutch. You might also try to adapt a felt seal from another application & install it in the outer bearing retainer (like the D does), maybe a fan shaft felt or something like that would fit. Make sure you put some type of sealer on the outside of the outer bearing retainer when you put a new one in, if there is a leak there the oil will just run under the outer bearing retainer & into the clutch.
