I've go a great little lawn tractor JD111, but recently I've had some problems with the PTO. It runs a 38" mower. The PTO never quits but once it's been running long enough to get warm. I shut the switch off and the PTO will not restart. Just wondering if it's switch related or if it's time for the PTO to be over hauled...

Also can anyone tell me what the proper mounting is for the mower, the front bracket has three holes, do you use the one that levels the deck? I don't have a manual. I'd appreciate any help or hints for setting up the deck and blades for the best cut. Thanks Ahead For Any Help...

Hi Everyone,

I solved my problems with my JD111 thanks to the kind people that visit this site. But...

When I called to enquire about having my little tractor fixed at the local "Mr. Fixit" (Not a Business Name) I was shocked to find out that the cost to transport my tractor for repairs was about $55.00 per hour. This meant about $110.00 dollars before a wrench was lifted. I have a frame for a trailer that simply needs a box (utility type) put back on. I've searched the internet for a simple plan that does not require thousands of dollars in woodworking tools to build. Does anyone out there have a simple plan, that can be modified by me for my trailer frame. I'd really appreciate some help. If someone has a simple plan for a box type utility trailer box, you can e-mail it to me...I'll thankyou in advance.

Too much to tow...

The electric PTO has to have a proper gap to funtion correctly. The symptoms you describe are indicative of either too wide a gap, or a weak magnet. You may get a few more weeks out of it before it goes by gapping closer, but it will eventually need to be replaced.... just pucker up when you go to buy one, the PTO for my JD 240 cost over $140. Thanks For the help...I'm thinking that perhaps my JD 111 needs some serious work. The engine leaks oil which covers the pto...can anyone briefly describe how this comes apart. Will the pto pull up through the frame once the motor is unbolted...I'm thinking perhaps it's time to invest in a shop manual...but they seem hard to find in Canada, anyone got any ideas where one could be found in the Belleville, Kingston Area?

I don't recall what holes to use, but with the tires inflated the same, 10 lbs. set your tractor on a level surface. side to side at the end of the blade tips should be level, front to back should be 1/4 inch lower at the front. don't adjust with the mower in the fully raised position. Should be a j-hook on one side to adjust side to side, the front to back should have an eccentric adjustable nut at the front of the mower deck. good luck.....

Just a note to thank "JOE"...for the information...it's been difficult getting a good cut...many thanks.

Now if I can just get someone who knows about the pto, why it won't start after it's been operating, it never quits it just won't restart, until it's left for a period of time...other than that little "green" works pretty well.

Hi, I see you have a JD 111. I do also, I replaced the engine block...now I can't get the throttle position correct for it to run after I hit the PTO switch...it bogs down to nothing... any help?...diagrams would be fine. Thanks , Mike
