I have a 1963 JD 1010 gas tractor that was working fine until I cleaned it up (sprayed on some degreaser and rinsed it off with water). Now I think the clutch pads are stuck to the pressure plate. I push the clutch in and when I try to put it in gear, all it does is grind. Did water get in there and rust them together? How do I get them unstuck?

Jack up the rear wheels And block the front ones very well. Start the tractor in the highest gear. The wheels will turn, apply the brakes and that should free up the clutch. I have done this on some that were frozen tight and had been sitting for a long time. ****BE VERY CARFUL-POINT THE TRACTOR IN A SAFE DIRECTION-BE SEATED AND SECURE-DON'T LIFT THE TRACTOR VERY HIGH OFF THE GROUND, ONLY ENOUGH FOR THE WHEELS TO TURN FREELY-AS THE WHEELS SHOULD ACT AS FLYWHEELS, YOU WON'T NEED TO USE MUCH GAS***
