I have a john deere 430w with a loose front end. I pulled the axles out of the tractor and can not figure out how to get the square axle housing out. It has bushing in the front and a pin in the back. How does the front bushing come out?? How does the back pin come out? (It has a lock nut that goes through the pin). Also, upon closer inspection of the front bushing, the bushing does not appear worn. The hole in the main frame looks like it is uneven. It appears the bushing is harder than the metal it sits in!! How can I fix this?? How much would I be looking at spending to take the main housing to a machine shop and have it machined back so the bushing will fit snug. Are there other ways to fix this problem?? The tractor is sitting on blocks without a front end and I would like to get it back together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
Justin

The parts & service manuals show an exploded diagram which indicates all the parts lost or hidden by grease, wear & time.

Rebuilt mine a couple years ago the hardened pin in back is held in by a set screw with jamb nut. The pin has a small dimple for it, my pin was worn so i turned it around backwards there is still enough pin to hold the axle. The front has a bolt that holds a thick shim. Both front and back have brass bushings you can get at Deere. There are also thin shims that go between the housing mounting in front.
