I am working on the 2 speed on an 8630 that lasted 119 hrs. All drive disks and gears were replaced , the planetary gears are ok and were not replaced haveing trouble with direct drive disks tearing off the teeth. This tractor is stock hp. Years ago Deere had trouble with heat treat and this looks the same to me . Is the complete unit (RE 12772 ) better in this area, the same unit fits 8650 tractors. Thanks

I am not sure about the thirty series 4wd but I think the complete unit subs up to a newer part number like on the 50 series. I may be wrong on this so check with your local dealer.

For us at the dealership it is usually cheaper to get a complete unit, especially if something is wrong with the carrier assembly. Did you check the system pressure and lube pressure to try and isolate a problem?

Yes , all pressures are ok and were set when unit was installed. My question is are the disks in the complete unit(8650) heaver than the individual disks that you get for the 8630. It looks to me like the teeth are pulling off.they had that problem 20 years ago and still have it. I have never seen a problem with the carrier and they beefed it up .Thanks for the reply. Don
