Any suggestions on removing a taper loc flywheel?
I have soaked it with pb blaster, Heated the flywheel around the hub, Devised a puller of sorts to pull from the outside of the flywheel putting pressure against the crankshaft, not to mention constant hitting with a hammer and a considerable amount of foul language. Nothing budges. What now?Do you need to do anything with the sleeve? I was told to tap the end of the crankshaft and the flywheel should pop loose.
I am at a standstill.

Thanks for any help

PER ithe WRITTEN instructions that come with the loc tite flywheel. Lossen the big nut till it's past the threads. Then have someone wearng gloves hold a thick flat piece of steel flat against the big nut and hit the steel plate with a 16# maul. We use took ours off q 730D that has been on since 1987. Took three hits and it poped off. When you put it back on. Hit the ribs with the 16# maul ONE time. Thigthen nut. Hit again ONE time tighten nut. Keep this up thill the nut nolonger tightens.

Dang I forgot the most imporant step. Before hitting the big nut (removal) or the ribs (Installing) take a bottle jack between the tire and the bolt on the cluch that holds the cluch to the crankshaft.

the large square nut needs to be loosened it not removed. Per the previous post get someone to help you and by all mean chain the wheel to a boom pole, or other good lifting device. If this thing gets loose off the crankshaft you'll never hold it and could get seriously hurt. As I recall they weight a couple hundred pounds. The sleeve is acting as a wedge to the inside and like the other post, wedge behind the wheel then use a jar force on the crankshaft. Don't hit with metal and bugger up the threads, use an oak board or block.

I have had a couple that stuck on me.
First, did you loosen the big 4 inch or so square
nut ? I think I left it on but loose so if flywheel did budge it wouldn't fall off. I think this is a two man operation so get a friend. I think I pryed out on outer edge of flywheel or drove some wooden wedges in between main case and flywheel then with a block of wood and sledge hit on the square nut. Worth a try unless you did this allready.
