Hydraulic pump oil

I have heard where people will use automotive automatic trans. fluid, hydraulic oil, but the book says use SAE30 motor oil.
So which do I use for the hyd. pump????

On page 59 of OM H10-156 which is the appropriate Owner's manual for the No. 5 Castor Wheel Power Mower you will find (upper picture) an illustration of the proper hookup for John Deere model(s) "A", "AN" and "AW" --(below serial no 561902) and "B", "BN" and "BW" (below serial no. 186184).

I would say that if you have the proper and appropriate hardware or can fabricate your own, then sure thing it will work!
