hello, we have a JD2130(i think it is!!) and it is getting difficult to engage gears on the move or with the engine running. I see on the left side (if seated) of the engine there are inspection holes into the clutch housing. Is it possible to tighten/adjust the clutch or will the lot have to come out, its definately the clutch because it smells! If it has to come out how big a job is splitting the tractor and are any special tools needed.

Thanks in advance
James

The two access covers are for throwout bearing grease fitting & inspection. Seen an unserviced 2130 suffer a sticky clutch that was caused by a lack of greasing. The clutch latter burned out because it couldn't fully engauge either due to the dry bearing/splines. My uncles didn't perform preventative maintence, only breakdown patchups.

yes its time to change it ...i can change one pretty fast but i have built jacks with wheels on them to bolt to side of tractor...i block the back wheels and put jack under rear ....can jack front end with jack bolts on jacks break apart and then roll forward ...do your work and roll back.. the nice part is that you can line up good with jack blots...makes short work of clutch repair or trans ...have 1520 on the jacks now put clutch in and replacing rear end spider gears..putting in new brakes also...fixing rockshaft also ...do a lot to it,,,but yes if its smelling its time if you need anything you can email me have nice day
