I thought about it, and all the good 'ol brands are owned by someone else. Can you go out and buy a brand new true Ford or International, and gosh darn it, Allis Chalmers? Did someone give Deere a $5 offer they couldn't refuse? Are they secretly bought up by Kamikazi in Yokohoma, Japan? It can't still be as they say "Solid, Stable, Still John Deere." I'm sure someone owns most of them, if not all. It's an american icon. Actually, international. I'm not saying John Deere is bad, but everything else is something else.

Yeah, It's still the real John Deere Co. essentially and let's all pray to our God that it will stay that way because no old ag implement company is very reliable after a buyout. In the ag economy nowdays you wonder how long any outfit can keep much of it's orginality.

I work for John Deere (not a dealership but at one of the factories). John Deere is still it's own company. It has not been bought out by anyone yet. Over the years there have always been rumors of sellouts, but none have ever happened yet. John Deere is one of the last large ag based companies in the US to remain on its own.

I work at Dubuque Works, Engine Division. I transfered there from PEC Engine Engineering 2 years ago. I worked there about 1 year. I own 2 John Deeres now. One of them is the BEST Tractor Deere made (4020 diesel) and the other has got to be the WORST (317 Garden Tractor - P.O.S. Kohler 2 cyl oil burning GARBAGE!), which I am looking to trade off this year
