LOOKING AT BUYING MY FIRST GREEN TRACTOR, JUST LOOKED AT AN AO SER# 1629, ITS IN ROUGH SHAPE,ITS STUCK,MANIFOLD ROTTED AWAY, TIRES SHOT, ON SIDE HAS SHEET METAL FORM HOOD TO REAR FENDER, THE OTHER SIDE IS MISSING. HAS NO TIN COVER SIDES OF WHEELS, IS IT SUPPOSED TO? IT LOOKS TO BE UNSTYYLED OR IS IT MISSING A GRILLE OF SOME TYPE.
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED, ALSO WHAT IS THE VALUE AS IS AND RESTORED AND HOW RARE IS THIS TRACTOR?

THANKS

SCOTT

I agree with MN Bob, However, it may be a bit of a stretch for a first project. My advice would be BUY IT though. You will find JD's very easy and forgiving to work on. Good luck.

Sounds like a 1938 AOS. Well worth your time and money to fix. The sheetmetal will be alittle costly but well worth it in the long run. Good luck on your rare find! They produced 820 units. Of those 42 were exported. 209 of those were shipped on steel wheels.

Scott; Check the Ser. NU. link to the left of the page. It looks like you have a 1938 styled. You may want to start of with a less ambitious project, but you would be sorry later if you pass on this one. Good Luck, Bob

Scott; Was looking at my TWO Cylinder Magazine, found a bit of interesting trivia. If it is in fact a AOS you have found, let me be the first to offer to buy it as is. Next, The O means orchard, so yes it should have tin on both sides, designed to sweep away branchs and protect the trees from the tires etc. One more thing, a picture of a 36 AO restored with the following partial statement. This 1936 "AO", complete and immaculate radiator to drawbar resoration ---Sold for a bargain price of $14,000.00 at expo X.--
So, it is worth restoring and a good find. Good luck and you may want to join the Two Cylinder Club. The magazine is worth the $. Bob
