The oil in my crankcase seems to be very thin. Is there a way that diesel fuel can get in there? I dont think that I have a bad head gasket because I dont have any blow by in the crankcase. Is there some way that it can get in there past the injector pump?

Had that problem with a 3 cyl. Long I used to own. Rings and all were still good, push rods were not bent just wasn't firing in that cyl. and oil level kept slowly rising. Ended up being a broken lifter. After I dropped the bottom I found the broken parts.

three most common places diesel can enter the crankcase are:
fuel transfer pump (torn diaphragm)
injection pump shaft seals (roosa master pump)
faulty injectors
remove transfer pump, apply low air pressure to the in port while plugging the out port inside a container of water. if there are bubbles coming out of the pump's flange then you have a perforated diaphragm. recondition or replace the pump.
if transfer pump is ok, the ijection pump shold be removed to check the shaft seals and bushing. be careful, seals are usually damaged when pump is fitted back on engine.
if injection pump checks out ok then have the injectors checked.
