Still working on my unstyled B. Took it back apart. No evidence of water leaks anywhere other than head gasket. Can someone suggest a good head gasket sealant. Thanks. Allen Heilner.

My dad worked for JD for about 28 years mostly in the 2 cylinder era. they always soaked the head gaskets in water before installing them. Don't think they had any problems with them and I would imagine that was a JD thing back then. I have used the copper stuff, in sort of apast form from a tube on later gaskets. At one time we also used aluminum spray paint on them and that seemed to work too. I think the main thing is to be sure you have a flat surface and torque your bolts, warm it up good and re torque them.

Allen did you check the pushrod inserts they could be be the culprit. I it 's the head resurface and use a good sealant on gasket, they make a copper spray that's pretty good. You shouldn't have to put a sealant in cooling system that will plug up radiator. Try black pepper its suppose to stop leaks. Gman
