I am considering trading my 1958 model 641-D for a 1964 model John Deere 2010 Gas. A friend has a 2010 Diesel. What is the horsepower of each? Also, any advice on the trade?

Hello Royce
Since no one else has touched your inquiry I'll weigh in on it. We're J-D folks here and we usually promote the J-D product but, personally, I wouldn't touch your trade with the proverbial pole. Your little Ford is a sweet little tractor, trim, handy and reliable, usually not a heartbreaker. As fewer 600/601 series were built than 800/801's you have an more unusual though certainly not rare specimen. The 2010, on the opposite end of the spectrum is, arguably the biggest turkey (read mistake) John Deere over presented. Problems with internal engine, clutch, transmission, electrical and most of all, hydraulics are legendary. Run, don't walk from this trade.
If you read up about 5 or 6 items you will find a collection of folks who disagree with me and like their 2010. It seems to be that there is no middle ground with 2010's. Good ones (mostly very late ones) are good. The rest are relentless heartbreakers.
If you're determined to trade your Ford for a New Gen John Deere, why not consider the 2020 or even a 2510. No man's first John Deere should be a 2010. Sorry for the book. Good Luck!!
