Can someone tell me the differences between a 4010 and a 4020.

Thanks in advance.

When you get an overhaul kit for a 4010 you get the same cylinder kits as a 4020, making it a 404cid engine

The engines, ring &pinions and axles are all bigger or heavier in the 4020. The hydraulic system is different, the PTO drive is much improved and the PTO lever is on the right on a 4020 instead of the left like a 4010. Hope this helps, Scott

Thanks Scott

Do you have more specific information such as actual engine sizes and I would especially be interested in what is different about the hydraulic system.

Thanks again.

The 4010 and 4020 use different couplers for the Hydraulic system. The hose tips are the same but the coupler housings are different with the locking levers on a 4020 being straight and those on a 4010 being bent. The housing on a 4020 completely incloses the coupler, the 4010 doesn't. Also, the powershift transmission became available with the 4020. 4010s couln't get powershift. The 4010 did have a third reverse speed which was deleted from the 4020. My "understanding" is that the heavier gears used in the 4020 didn't leave enough room but that may or may not be the case. The engine in the Diesel 4020 was the 404, the 4010 had a 380cid diesel. Gas 4020s had 362cid, 4010s had 302cid. A 4010D weighed 7130, a 4020D weighed 8630 and I am assuming same equipment. The 4010s could still be obtained with the F1500R cast rim first seen on the 60 and 70. The 4020 had a different rim in this size (38") which had 12 bolts securing the rim to the wheel casting, instead of 8 which was used earlier. Horsepower, of course was higher for the 4020. Gas 4010=81hp,LP 4010=80.6,Diesel 4010=84hp. Gas 4020=96.6, LP4020=94.5, Diesel 4020=94.8pto hp. A cab became optional during production of the 4020.
