Hi, How are you lifting the front-mounted blade with the MT hydraulics? Have you added some sort of a front-mounted cylinder, or are you lifting one of the M series attachment front blades? The original M blades used a cable arrangement to the rear lift arms and they never did lift all that quickly. The arrangement requires the lift arms to move up about 3x the distance as the blade lifts off the ground. With the hydraulic oil being thicker from the cold, the front blade lift time would be even longer. If you're using a front mounted linear hydraulic cylinder, you have to watch the diameter of it. The M series hydraulic pump doesn't have much in the way of flow rate and you'll just have to live with it being slow. The option would be to add a PTO mounted hydraulic pump and a second reservoir to the tractor to operate the add-on cylinder. That would give you a much higher flow rate and speed the lift time up nicely. In fact, on the later production industrial version known as the 440, JD used the external PTO powered pump for the loaders and backhoe attachments. The engine-mounted pump wound up being used for the power steering. Hydraulic oil is already pretty low viscosity. Switching to something lighter might lead to oil leaks around the seals. In any event, if you did use a lighter oil in the winter, you'd need to change it back to normal oil in the spring. Stan
