5010 = 121HP. 5020 had two ratings, late units 141HP but early ones were 133.2HP .6030's with the turbo engine were way under rated at 175HP.

You must be right on the 6030 being underated because our neighbor's 6030 as gone through at least a couple of rear ends and they dynoed it at 230 pto horsepower.

Odds are the tractor was operated under some or all of the following conditions. - continous lugging to max power in lower gears - heavily ballasted - cheap, old, dirty, low grade, water contaminated, off brand trans oil - abuse/shock loading. eg pop the clutch to bring the front end up - incorrect assembly initialy or during repairs. - another component(s) out of spec overstressing the dirvetrain.eg bearing bore out of alignment. Given half a chance the 6030 is a robust machine.

Read JR Hobbes's article in "Green" magazine. He claims that most of them would do 225+.

George is right about the 6030's being tough and underrated. I saw a few of them dinoed at the dealership and they were all above 210 PTO horses. I think the 6030's were one of Deere's better tractors and they would have been much more popular if they would have put the sound gaurd bodies on them and a different transmission.

My old advertising literature says the 5020 was rated at 145hp. "the most powerful rowcrop tractor on the market" The manual for the 5010 is at the shop so I don't know the exact rating for them but I would think in the 140hp area. Was (and are) serious tractors

I believe they were 110 and 125. Or about that anyway. Scott
