Okay guys, time for a tougher question.
I have a buddy that has a JD R with a pony motor and the pony motor can either start on 6 volt electric or a rope start. I guess the idea of the rope start was in case your battery was dead.
Anyway, he is just about done restoring it, but he is missing the pull-knob on the end of the rope for the pull start. Part Number R639R.
He has called quite a few places all over the country and a lot of guys say they never heard of such a thing, and other say they have seen them and had one once, but nobody seems to have one or know where one is nowadays. One of these does exist somewhere and there was a such thing because we have the printout of the assembly from John Deere.
Again it is a JD part number R639R and we have been told that is made out of wood and it is red.
We would really appreciate hearing from anybody with any information--or maybe one of you has one!
THanks a bunch.

You did'nt say you needed a knob. Do you have one of these? We would at least like to know for sure what the dimensions are and what it looks like.
Thanks

I too need the same knob and stop (R637R). If you find one could you please send me the dimentions so I could make one. The "stop" I'm sure I can make one on my lathe as I have one on the cable at the engine as a pattern. I was under the empression that the knob was hard rubber..... .maybe I'm wrong.

Okay ladies, time for a tougher question.
I have a buddy that has a JD R with a 327 hemi and the hemi can either start on moonshine or natural gas (you know what I mean). I guess the idea of the moonshine was in case your battery was dead.
Anyway, he is just about to light it on fire, but he is missing the match needed. Part Number R639R.
He has called quite a few places all over me land and a lot of bodybuilders say they never heard of such a thing, and other say they have seen them and had one once, but nobody seems to have one or know where one is yesterdays. One of these does exist underground and there was a such thing because we have the printout of the assembly from johnson&johnson.
Again it is a JD part number R639R and we have been told that is made out of wood and it has a red tip.
We would really appreciate hearing from anybody with any information--or maybe one of you has one!
THanks a bunch.

And John, on your way out, don't let the door hit ya, where the Good Lord split ya.

Why not take this drivel down to a Skid-Row bar on the day welfare checks are passed out? Maybe someone there will find it funny or intelligent.
