The "twit" is the Kinze Corporation..... .quite a respected company in my opinion. :-)

Kinze, huh? Having met the man on several occasions, I'd have to stay with my original asessment. He's had a hard-on for Deere and Deere engines for 25 years.

Yes, Kinze corp, home of the cummins repower. It is a really interesting modification what with the 855 cummins and a (claimed) 400hp. Not really any worse than making a G into a "GR" or modifying a B into diesel. It just goes to show what Deere could have done if they had wanted too.

How can the rear end and transmission of a 5020 handle 400 engine HP? That modern tractor HP like an 8970 or newer.

The 5020 rear end was good for 300 HP easy, 400 might be stretchin' it a little.

The rears & trans often failed. Especialy if the operator heavily ballasted the tractor & worked it hard in the lower gears. Cheap mineral oil in the trans rather than synthetic or Deere's oil is often a problem. Better chances of survival if 5mph ground speed is used which is the max for bias ply tires. Tow a lighter load, faster. Radial tires which allow higher ground speeds & more pull with less ballast would be better yet. Why not properly rebuild/upgrade the 513 or install the latter improved 619? ( I think that's the size?)? Somebody was in the business of selling engines instead of repair & service.

I've had this arguement with someone on another site before over this matter. Kinze has convinced many people that a 531 or 619 is junk and will blow up at 2-3000 hrs, Which is where the Detroit installation for the 10 and 20 series and Cummins for the 30 series up to the 8650 came in. Personally I like the 619 engine we have in our 760 scraper, great power at all rpms which works great for scraper work.
