Does anyone know if these water pumps are repairable and if so where can I get a repair kit? If I need a new pump, where can I find one of those at a reasonable price?

Thanks for all the help in the recent past.

Peter

Have you tried JD for parts? I recently rebuilt the pump in my "50" and got the seal/bearing kit from them ($35 I think).

There are two dumb things you can do, and I did them both... one is to misalign and then break the ears off the new carbon seal washer while pressing in the new bearing (the 420 pump may not have this type of seal).

Also, while trying to feel if the ears were aligned in the slots under the impeller, I got my little finger STUCK in the pump! Even with a friend's help I could not get my fingertip out. Finally with some WD40 I managed to yank it out (really hurt too) before it swelled any more to where the ER would have had to cut the pump off my hand!

You can still get all the parts necessary to rebuild the pump at JD. The hardest part is removing the pulley. You will need access to an hydralic press to rebuild your pump. Follow the directions in the service manual. If you need more info let me know.
