I am an Allis Chalmers fan, so you will have to bear with me on my knowledge of John Deere. All right now for the scoop. I found two John Deere 494 (I think) planters in a fence row the other night. I also found a hitch of some sort that I think both hook on to and are pulled side by side through the field. It has two tires and one hitch for the tractor and three for the planters it looks like. I'm guessing two for pulling it through the field and one for pulling them in a "train" down the road. Am I right in guessing at this? Was this factory or did someone make it? Allis Chalmers made a setup like this for pulling two discs. What would the whole setup be worth? Would it be worth buying (or getting free, I know the owner!), and reselling or would I be wasting my time? I will try to take some pictures in the next few days and post them. Thanks Adam Davis

Don't know if the one you are looking at is factory or not..... but I have a freind who's uncle lived in iowa and had a factory set-up like this he used on a 730 tractor with 2 494a planters..... :-)

Havn't seen this particular setup but rigs like that were avaliable either factory or aftermarket or home made. Sounds like a fun project.
