My unstyled 37 "b" serial 28952 had a round spoke steering wheel when I bought it. Someone told me it should be flat-spoked- is this correct?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a restored to expo condition Short Frame '37 B (#39074) and it has a flat spoked steering wheel. From what i have read in Green Magazine and Two-Cylinder magazine unstyled "B's" used the flat spoked wheel and then the early styled tractors did too until the supply was used up. The factory then switched to using round spoked wheels. If i were you, i would go buy a flat spoked wheel and stick it on that puppy. It looks cooler on a untyled tractor than that round spoke wheel does anyway. Hope this helped,
chaz

A flat spoke wheel is correct on an U/S B. Deere came out with a round spoke wheel for the '39 model year. It has a much larger center than the later round spoke wheels.

From what I have read, a few very early '39 B's were shipped with the flat spoke wheel. These wheels were installed to use up existing inventory during the change over.

We have a 1937 BN serial# 37427 with a round spoke steering wheel that was original with the tractor. I don't know if yours should be flat spoke or not. Maybe JD changed to round spoke steering wheel by the time our B was built. This my not help you much but it is my 2cents worth.
