We have a 920 with a 148 loader on it. The brake petals are very hard to depress and seem to have pressure on them all the time. They only have about 1'' of free travel. When it is cold the brakes seem to be on and it is difficult to run in road gear as the thing will power out due to the drag. It seems trhat the hydralic pressure on the brakes does not release. We have had it looked at but the mechanic couldn't figure it out. Ideas?

There are a couple of things to try Terry. First disconnect one brake line at the brake valve and see if the tractor rolls any easier. If it does I would say that the brake valve is at fault. If it doesn't reconnect and move to the next check. Drain the hydraulic oil and remove the suction screen. If the brake linings are coming off the brake disks some of the material will make its way to the screen. It will be a redish brown color. If this is the case you will have to remove final drives and install new brake disks.
