Is it possible to put 3020 pistons in a 3010 gas engine? I just read a post that said that it could be done on a diesel engine. does the block have to be bored to accept 3020 sleeves, or do you bore out the 3010 sleeves to fit the pistons.

Can you use a 3020 crank and connecting rods in a 3010 gas? I'm going to rebuild this 3010 anyway, and if I could get a few more HP out of it for not too much money, I would. Thanks in advance, you guys have been really helpful in the past.

If you overhaul the engine the new pistons will be
the same as a 3020

How do they fit the larger pistons in the 3010 bores? Do they use thinner sleeves? Are you talking about John Deere parts, or aftermarket?

Lloyd--The overhaul kit you get will come with a sleeve/piston set complete. You just press the old out and install the new in-- luckydog

I understand that sleeves and pistons come as a set, but I also know that standard 3020 pistons are larger than standard 3010 pistons. If the 3020 sleeves fit in the 3010 block, then I would consider using 3020 pistons and sleeves. If the 3020 sleeves will not fit, then I would not bore out 3010 sleeves. I don't think you would have enough sleeve left.
