Sitting beside the road, in the weeds, two 60 Standards (Styled)(Wheatland types) and a styled "G". They have been sitting there for several years. Not rusted, even the paint is pretty good, as the high altitude is in their favor. One 60 has a missing rear wheel, and the "G" is missing the gas tank and hood, but everytime I pass by, I think of how good these beautiful machines would sound if someone could buy and restore them. They are in Kansas, Interstate 70, mile marker 49 on the north side of the road. I have no idea if they are for sale or not. I just hate to see them rot away.

Know what you mean Pappy! I have seen it happen where the owners just want an unrealistic price for old things and would rather let them rust away than come down. I get about as upset when I see those farmers who don't own a grease gun and/or let all their stuff sit out in the weather when the shed or barn is empty! I used to work restoring steam locomotives and would really get upset to see one on display in a park or somewhere and just rusting away. Sometimes a group of interested restorers would offer to buy one or haul it off free but the city would never consider giving up "their" steam engine! I guess abuse of any old working machinery upsets me!

I know the tractors you are talking about because I have driven by many times on my way back and forth from Goodland, KS. Last I knew, the man who owns them would sell them, but at a too high a price for me. I'm not sure, but I think those standard wheatland tractors are "R"s.

I once thought they were "D's" or "R's" also, but I stopped and took pictures. They are "60,s"

Not a tractor story, but related. I used to work for a guy that had 2 Dodge Daytona Superbirds (the ones with the big wing on the back) sitting behind his barn rusting away. He was offered large sums of cash many times for them but always thought that they were worth more. They still sit there, A few more years and I'm afraid they will be beyond repair. They are probably the rarest "muscle car" around with only 500 manufactured in 1970.

Steve, Just for your info, Dodge made the Daytona and Plymouth made the Superbird. One of the companies made only 500 units (i think it was Dodge) and the other made around 2500 units. At least, this is what I have been told.
