I was thinking about painting my pulling tractor all black with yellow rims. Have I lost my marbles. I wanted it to me different. Has anyone seen Deeres that are non-traditional in color?

Hey Color Blind: It's your tractor, paint it however you like!
I've seen purple Farmall Hs, there was a 560 at an auction 4 years ago with a black engine, like the CIH Magnums. It brought $6000. If you are a puller, theres lots of them that paint their stuff funny colors. I think Black with a yellow engine would look pretty good. I'm wishing for a super M so I can paint it Ford BLUE, mostly to be different, in honor of the CNH deal. Hey, this hobby is supposed to be fun! JD70jim

Yup, it's true. Saw it at the fall swap meet in
Wichita, Kansas. Pretty nice looking Farmall too.

Zman.

There's a black 4010 owned by a gentleman in Delta CO. It's been around a long time, used to belong to the dealer I worked for. It has 466 pistons & liners in the orig. block, a 7520 inj. pump & turbo, 4630 intercooler. Pulls in 7th, turns about 3000-3500 rpm. Good ol' Super Stocker!

I went to a show and saw a (B) Johndeere painted to look like a (H) Farmall, and a Farmall F20 or F30 painted to look like a Johndeere. The Farmall had a sign on it that read, They Made Me Do It.

My friend painted his wife's B black with yellow wheels. called it her Bumble Bee.
Then know a guy that painted his wifes A "caddy pink",and to make it worse they kept it parked in front of the house.
Then there is the 37 Gold D.

I guess I was thinking of the tractor that was featured in an article in Green Magazine a couple of months ago about two brothers building pulling tractors. The one tractor was called the grim reaper and was all black.

I just can't chance someone referring to my pulling tractor as a bumble bee. Of course it does fly like a butterfly and stings like a bee on Farmalls.

I found my marbles and have put them back in my sack. Its nice to have balls there again :o)

Why don't you reverse the color sceam yellow tractor and green wheels then you want have a problem with decals, the yellowjackets and honeybees are liable to blow you. I had a yellow Gaxie 500 XL once upon a time honeybees and yellowjackets loved that thing. Another plus when you go to a pull or a show you want have to hunt it,it'll shine like an outhouse(sh**)in the Fog. Just and idea.Gman

My dad worked at the Waterloo Works tractor factory from 1960 to 1994. He used to tell me about different color tractors they painted back in the 1960's and 1970's. He said there were some set minimum number of tractors you had to order to get a different color, and I'm sure it cost extra too. I remember him telling me of blue 4020's that were being sold to some place in Europe. I sure would have liked to see those! The only ones I remember were tractors for use around the plant. They were all painted yellow entirely.

I painted my A hood and side shields black and left the chassis green and like it well enough to leave it that way (at least 'till I get the itch to do something different). I've seen all black Deeres and thought they looked good.

A guy in our neighborhood had a John Deere B that he had painted Volkswagen blue, which was a real sissy looking light powder blue. I guess it needed painting and that was what he had available. It was disgusting. . . I primed a JD once with yellow zinc oxide, and the shop loafers thought I'd lost my mind.

I have seen a styled A that was painted red, white, and blue. However, it looked a bit like a hillbilly tractor.
