I recently purchased a John Deere model 2840 and have since learned this may be a mistake. Has anyone out there experienced problems with the hydraulics or transmission? I was told there is a steel hydraulic line running through the transmission that tends to break causing hydraulics failure. How significant is this problem? How difficult to repair if it does happen? Any other inherant problems with this tractor? Any response is appreciated. Larry

This problem does exsist in the 2840, it is not what I would call a serious repair, the tractor does have to be split for the repair. Any good JD mechanic can have it replaced in less than 8 hrs. Have done a few myself but dont see it all that often. Enjoy your tractor and when the time comes, repair it. Have fun, Roy.
