i am looking to buy a 4430 and was wondering you

week that at a dealer that shows 9500 hrs. it has
almost new radial rears and 80% fronts.it is a real clean tra. good paint,no dents, inside cab in
excellent cond. quad. trans... dealer no's little
about motor and trans. history. they did check
cam shaft in there shop and it checked out little
wear. i presume it has had a lot of work to it.
some one has taken good care of it. they are asking 17500.what do ya think....kratz

Hello: I owned a 4430 before retiring is a good tractor. But that is a lot of money and a lot of hours. Mine had 5000 hours when I had my faarm sale and retired It was power shift W/duals and everything perfect and I got $l9500. for it. Seems to high for all of those hours. Also you need to know what year it is as the early ones had some rear end problems and you want a 1977 model as they are the same rear end as the 4440. Hopes this helps. Columbia, Mo.

Why don't you get a 40 series,a lot better
tractor for not much more money.Saw a nice
4430 sell a month ago with 5000 hours,cab,air,
like new tires,12500.00.We started out with 30 series tractors, oil leaks, rear end problems,
use a lot of fuel.Traded for a 4440,haven't
had a problem yet other than minor stuff, battery,
alternator etc.

here you can buy a good one for 10000 or less. a friend just bought a good one for 6500, a 4640 powershift just sold for 14000...17500 is too much

Yes, that is somewhat true, and the 1086 will always be worth less, ride like a bucking bronco, and the day that you can't get parts for it will come long before it does for a 4430. Plus the fact that the T/A will go out, shifting is hard..... ...and that the 4430 has a FAR better chance of holding its value. Put your revered 1086 up against a 4440, and you'll find you've met your match and then some.

they only made 50,000 1086 tractors so i think the parts will be around for a while. btw ih had made 5 million tractors in 1974 i bet jd has not made 5 million by now. we cant all be crazy.the 1086 will shift hard and ride a little rough, but it will run circles around a 4440.
