Thinking real hard on a 70 gas. It has factory fenders, after market 3 point. and is real straight, and best of all runs good. They want $2300.00. I'm not sure why I'm asking, because I think I'm going to go check it out better.

DP, I am the son getting all the kudos for the tuning of Dave2N's 70, knows what he is talking about!!!!! Grab it, even if there is a few probs, I bet you won't have as much in her as Dad did, even though he only paid $1100.00, I estimate he has over $5000.00 in it. If you decide you don't want it, e-mail me...I do!!!

All those things make it sound like a good deal. One word of caution though. Listen to it stop also. If you hear some banging in the clutch in the last few revolutions, the clutch drive disk is worn out and might have the splines on the crank worn as well. Factor in some goodly bucks if those symptoms are there. I really like my '54 model, but I found out the hard way about those clutch noises!

See if this helps you: I paid too much ($1100.00) for a stuck, torn apart, neglected 1954 70 gas. After a lot of work (my son did a lot) and again, more money (me), we got it out to the shows, parades and pulls last summer. Man, it looks great, runs great, sounds great and there aren't that many of them out there. I know there are better pullers but this one never shames us. When I think back to the entire recovery process, I guess I've pretty much forgotten the times I cursed myself for getting that blankety-blank thing. Now, it's NOT for sale! I had it out last night for the tour of my 50 acres; a lot more fun and definitely cheaper than going to a shrink. Just now went through a listing of all the events coming up that we will take it too this spring, summer and fall. My son has it so well tuned that it starts "right now," even after sitting in the barn in single digit temps. for over a week. This one taught me though, that you are farther ahead to get a "runner" to start with and do what you need to do as you go along. If it's like you say it is, if the budget can stand it, if your CEO is in agreement, RUN, don't walk and grab it, right now!!

I would because if you go to pulls and shows you don't see as many 70's as you do G's and 60's.I have a 56 70 and I love it.

Man, sounds good to me. If you can find a good running straight John Deere priced reasonable and you really want one, You'd better not fart around if you know what I mean.

I would not waste time on it. They are special and when they run good, its even better. They are big in a nice way and look great in a parade and fairly classic in thier sound.
