I'm trying to remove the pinion shaft in a 3010 syncrorange transmission. I can't seem to locate a snap ring plier that will grab that style of snap ring. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

The snap ring pliers I have used for years for these pinion shaft snap rings are from Snap On. The part # is SRP4. However these are quite expensive. Iam sure that another tool company makes a similar tool, such as K-D for example. The ones I use are about 14" long. If you have a local Snap On dealer or know someone who has a catalogue, you could see what one looks like and find a cheaper one somewhere. Good Luck!!!!!

Are you talking about the snaprings that are tapered on the ends? Any place that sells large truck transmission parts should be able to get the correct pliers.

Yep, those are the ones. Thanks for the help. The people at the local NAPA had never heard of such a thing, and I was wondering if it was a "special JD tool" or something.
