I spent the day yesterday fabricating an electric starter for hand cranked engines.

I have an LUC 2 cylinder John Deere stationairy engine that I have hooked to a Meadows grist mill made in the 30s and it sometimes will throw a tantrum and refuse to start. I have almost had a heart attack winding that thing up not to mention the embarrasment of having a croud of people waiting to see me start making corn meal at a tractor show etc.

Now it can just throw a tantrum if it wants too. I can twist it till the cows come home

Looks like that should do the trick zane man. Yes, hand crankers are sometimes bashful, being significantly more difficult to start dependant on how many onlookers are present. I try and sneak up on mine at shows when no one sees me and it usually starts the first or second pull over. Let a crowd gather or be in a parade on a hot day and (*&^%$$. A couple years ago at our State Fair, I had to pull in a crowded prime time walkway and start and unload mine off my trailer and boy was I scared it wouldnt start. It did on the 4th pull, but I had nightmartes it wouldnt under that pressure. However, that uncertainty and swapping lies about whose starts better, is part of the charm of a hand cranker. Ol John T
