I just received my winter JD Journal. In the journal there is a brief 2-page article on the "New Mecca For John Deere Fans" (nice title). Here are the following prices for membership to this elite group.Legacy Membership $50.00 1. Membership Card (credit card if you choose) 2. For an addition $5000.00 Heritage Club members can upgrade to the category of life-time membership. Let's see Legacy members pays $50. $5000/$50 = 100 years of membership. I'm 29 so I can't die until I'm 129 years old to get my money out of my membership. Sorry for the sarcasim and the negative tone to my post but I am upset. If Deere is so willing to dump a $995,000.00 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs plus $2,000,000.00 of their own money, just so can they can provide a "John Deere Collectors Center {that} will be a premiere focal point for enthusiasts facinated by Old John Deere tractors, implements, and memorabilia, quote by Larry Riney". Why not take a fraction of that money hire a few good folks to man the archieves department, give Green Magazine, and Two-Cylinder Magazine some money to expand their circulation and subscriptions. Sponsor part of the Expo shows that promote John Deere heritage. I am holding up three fingers for all of the folks who are shareholders that support this agenda just so they can receive a bigger dividend check.(Read between the lines) I personally own Deere stock and I think that they are wasting a lot of money.
