G's that are converted to gas

I'm not very familiar with the G and was wondering if all G's were converted by dealers from distillate to gas. Are there some still out there not converted and how can you tell the difference by looking at one? How much HP do they have burning gas? Thanks for any input.

The JD cold manifold is an F1074R like others said the intake is kind of seperated as much as they can from the exhaust.Where as the orig is a big blob of cast iron.

Without looking at the pistons do a compression check anything over 65lbs it probably had gasser's put in it.

KRIS--The difference in part # is, F136R is all fuel up to ser # G13000-, then F552R all fuel from G13000 and on. The gas manifold is#AF1323R on all G's, unless there is an after market manifold. The dealers did not make the change unless requested. As far as h/p increase I'm not sure, but it does make the tractor run smoother. Maybe some one else can help. luckydog

Chris there are several "G"s out there that still remain fuel burners.The all-fuel "G" are 38 hp and the ones converted are around 51 hp.If it has been converted a Johnson cold manifoild is installed and alunium pistons,which are rather difficult to detect.Usually a stock "G" that hasn't been tampered with is extremely smooth idling,you can about count the fan blades.The difference in in the Johnson cold manifold and the stock Hot manifoild is the intake runner is exposed to atmosphere where the hot manifold intake runner is enclosed to preheat the fuel mixture for better fuel combustion. hope this helps Gman

A geat many were converted when gas & distillate prices became about the same. Usually the manifolds were changed along with higher compression pistons. Gas manifolds do not have the intake passage surrounded by the exhaust gases to keep the incoming fuel mixture cooler. The original distillate manifold surrounded the intake passage with the exhaust gases to keep it hot so the that the distillate remained gaseous and didn't condense into a liquid which would only be partially burned. The colder gasoline manifold will make the tractor run smoother at idle and light load. If you look closely at the manifold on any A, B, D the difference is easy to see. Pistons of course require an engine teardown to check. Also some tractors may have a gasoline manifold and still have the original low compression pistons. My 1941 A is this way.
