Just bought my first JD H for $600. The front grills are junk and the hood could be salvaged. The tractor is not stuck but it has been some time since it ran last. Back tires are fairly new (mismatched) and the front are junk. All of the other goodies seem to be there and working. I guess it is not all that bad. I just wondered if this is the going price for a "good basket case"?

I have done a complete restoration on an A, BN and G but never touched a H before. Is there anything special about the H that would be different then the larger row crop series when restoring a H?

I gave 800.00 for mine and paid another 500.00 to get it delivered. You might get by cheaper than I do. So far I've got about 2,200.00 in it and haven't heard it run yet. BUT, I'm having fun.
The H has an unusual power train. Power comes off the cam shaft instead of the crank. Also the brakes are inside the axle housings.
Good luck with your project
Frank

JD H's are not real plentiful in our area. I think they are a neat little tractor. I have seen a couple tractors that someone tried to make into a pulling tractor (not much luck).
