Why would a D run good at idle or a little faster, but won't speed up, even when throttle is moved manually. This tractor had the carb cleaned but sat outside for many years previously. Thanks for any help.

Bruce Make sure the govenor is working smoothly and the throttle rod is moving and not binding. If you had the Carb. off the D lately make sure you did not put the bell crank and throttle plate in backwards. If all of these things are working correctly , you have some passage stopped up in the carb. It depends on which year model you have as to which direction the throttle rod and throttle plate operate with the govenor. I hope this helps.
