On the weekends my shop fills up with lookers. I am putting together an 830, that is literally a basket case. I am doing this for a friend, to do it for a living, the rebuild would cost more than what the tractor is worth. You have to realize that all of these lookers are tractor experts and to listen to the conversation you would probably think most of these guys are from a different planet. But every now and then one of them comes up with some interesting info. My question is, did John Deere ever make a 930? My friend says he has seen one and he understands that JD made several and put them out on a few farms for testing. The story goes on and on, but he also claims they would not stay together. Anyone out there know anything about this? These guys may be totally pulling my leg!!

830,930,1030,1130 and 1630 new style European, 1975-1980 From The Big Book of John Deere tractors. No pictures were in the book of a 930. Jerry

It was an articulated tractor with a 530 in the rear and a 430 up front.

As far as I know there never was a 930. The latest 2-Cylinder shows a picture of an "850" which is what JD was originally going to call the 830.

Don Dufner also likes to splice tractor halves - have you seen the pictures of the (I think) three 830's tied together with a cab mounted on top?

Yes, Don Dufner had an 830-830-830 at the JD Expo in Waterloo last summer, but it was more than "tractor halves". They were complete 830s except the front wheels and their conventional steering had been removed.
I think JD did make an 830 as a small (garden?) type tractor, so maybe there is a 930 in that small size line.

Wouldn't a 530 on one end, and a 430 on the other end have to be a 960??? HAHA Good one Al.

Al,
I am sorry my friend. It surely wasn't my intention to embarass you in front of the entire nation. HaHa Boy, that Duffner can really do some smooth things can't he? Those 3 model 830's are a real thing of beauty.

Plant Doctor,
I think you have just been snowed. HAHA I'm not the official word by any means, but as far as I know, John Deere never made a 930 tractor. I sure do hope I'm right on this one.

I have a 930 John Deere tractor. It use to be a 730 tractor but it's cold out there at 730. 930 is early enough! Who knows, next year it may be an 1030. Tugboat
