I have a 4010 gas that needs an engine overhaul. Is there a jd combine that used the same or similar engine that would fit my tractor?

I'm not sure if it is possible, but now would be a great time to find a 466 and bolt it on.

The only problem is, will a 466 bolt in with minor adjustments. I just know somebody on this board will have the answer.

Would be a good time to put in a 404 diesel out of a combine in it . Late 6600, 6620,7700,7720 will fit. Might have to change the crank pulley and would need a different flywheel. Probably would need a new radiator but probably does any way. then you would have a tractor . My 2cents

JD 105 combines from 1964-1968 used the 341 gasoline engine, the 1969 models used the 362 gas engine. Either is a bolt-in for your 4010.

I have a shop manual that shows the 341 engine was for the 4020. Will it also fit in the 4010?

Yes, it 's the same basic engine---bore was increased 1/4 inch over the 4010 engine. The 362 engine was the same design, with 1/4" longer stroke, used in 1969-up 4020 and 4000 Gas tractors, and 105 and 7700 gas combines

I have a 4010 that I installed a 341 CID combine engine in. It is really no problem. Just a few minor changes and you will be up and running again. Mine runs great and dynos 88 HP. One thing to consider is electronic ignition. I put one in mine and it starts and idles better. I feel it`s an economical way to burn todays version of gasoline. Best of luck with your 4010! If you have any questions please feel free to email me. Scott
