Which carb would make my hand crank 41 A start easier and run better? DLTX-53 or DLTX-72 ? Thanks for any ideas.

If running the "A" primarly on gasoline use the gas carb. The all fuel carbs run a little rich with gasoline.

Chris, either carburetor would probably work. The 72 carburetor is for a late A all-fuel tractor, and the 53 is the original carburetor for your tractor. I would echo everything John T mentioned, but I believe a '41 A would take 18mm plugs, which in this case I would use an Autolite 386, or if for parade only duty, an Autolite 3116. Hope this helps. Mike

Yo Mike thanks youre right about the plugs Autolite 386 or 388, when I read hand crank my old fat brain was thinking unstyled for some reason. Are we going to Michigan Expo???? They may not have seminars there but I will still likely go and take my motorhome (maybe my 38 B) so lets get together with maybe my buddies Henry and Ben And Paul and talk pulling !!!!! John T

Hey John, I am hoping to get to go to the Expo, if the field work is slowing down some by then. Don't get me started talking pulling as I may not get to talk about anything else! Mike

Chris, theres a web link here or Rummys (www.johnnypopper.com) somewhere that has the proper carb lisitngs, but regardless, to make them hand crankers start easy, they just gotta have good hot firing mags and plugs and be timed right with good compression. (plus a good carb that dont flood them) I hate to crank and crank em or flood em esp on a hot summer day at a show or parade. If you haven't already, good new points set right (0.015) and a new condensor in the mag with a good clean cap and rotor and new wires and new Autolite 3076 or 3077 plugs sure helps. John T
